こんにちは!

I’m Asahi – yeees like the beer but it also means the rising sun, which is a bit more poetic. I was born in Japan but mostly grew up in the UK. I started this blog because I’m always missing Japan and I find cooking helps with that homesickness.

My recipes range from being quick and easy, to some which take a bit more time, but only when it’s worth it. Each time I create a post, I learn something new, and I feel my connection with Japan grow stronger.

I put a lot of effort into researching and testing the recipes so you can make them easily at home. Honestly nothing makes me happier than when someone cooks one of my recipes! If you have any questions, feedback or thoughts, please get in touch. I really love to hear from you!

What does “Mikusu” mean?

Mikusu (ミクス) is the Japanese way of saying “mix” and like the word “hafu”, it can be used to describe someone with mixed heritage. I’m Japanese and British, so my kitchen is naturally a mix of both cultures. Hence – Mikusu Kitchen!

I started this blog with two goals in mind: to keep learning about Japanese cooking and to help you add a few Japanese meals into your life. If you got this far, I’m really glad you’re here. Thank you for reading and I hope to see you around again soon!
